French press try to stir it with Moussa Sissoko January transfer to Arsenal

Bloody typical, over in France L’equipe do a big interview with Moussa Sissoko on the eve of the derby, profiling how brilliantly he has been playing, then the story that comes out of it is ‘Sissoko January move to Arsenal’.

The Newcastle midfielder was asked specifically about a potential January move to Arsenal and as has been well documented before, his favourite English team as a kid were the Gunners.

Sissoko was repeatedly asked about whether a January move to London was likely but confirmed there had been no offers and he was happy at Newcastle;

“Arsenal were my favourite club when I was young and my idol was Patrick Vieira. I have always loved this club and I still love them.

“There were a lot of rumours (about an Arsenal move) but I do not pay too much attention.

Ambition;

“I have an agent that takes care of all that and if something should happen, it will happen.

“I do have ambition and my goal is to play at the best clubs, play in the Champions League and win trophies, but today I’m a Magpie and I’m very happy.”

The comment about winning trophies and playing in the Champions League isn’t anything to get stirred up about as we’ve seen it all before – which player when asked wouldn’t say they wanted to do those things.

What we are interested in is Newcastle showing that kind of ambition which would keep Moussa Sissoko and others at St.James’ Park.

Sadly the worry yet again is that rather than hypothetical questions, what happens of Arsenal or any other club offer big money for Moussa Sissoko – what would Mike Ashley do?
