Fans’ choice of Newcastle starting 11 v Burnley

Thanks to everybody who contributed to the votes for the fans’ choice of Newcastle starting 11 v Burnley.

Injuries may have played havoc with Alan Pardew’s preparations and it is no different when it comes to gauging which players would be involved.

Alan Pardew originally said that he expected both Coloccini and Aarons to be available and so we included them, only for the pair to be ruled out later.

Daryl Janmaat was excluded as it looked like he had no chance of playing after picking up a hamstring injury at West Ham, but along with Williamson and Haidara the Dutch defender’s chances of playing are now in the balance.

Meanwhile, Rob Elliot’s wife is expecting so he might miss it to be at the birth.

However, what the fan votes do tell us is that Paul Dummett is seen as invaluable at the moment and he polled the highest (95%) of all, even with Coloccini included in the voting.

A big talking point on Saturday was the mystifying choice to play Gouffran ahead of Remy Cabella, the fans here making clear their preference for tonight, Cabella scoring 93% to Gouffran’s 26%.

With Colback and Sissoko’s suspensions, TioteĀ (95%)and to a lesser extent Anita (68%) are seen as automatic choices.

Whilst it is interesting to see Steven Taylor (69%) getting twice as many votes as Mike Williamson (35%) – though I think there is every chance of both playing if they are available.

At the other end of the pitch, Ayoze Perez (92%) once again easily outpoints Papiss Cisse (60%) – hopefully Alan Pardew will play both of them.

The first thirteen are in bold (allowing for Colo and Aarons who definitely aren’t playing), with the rest below.
