Elusive Newcastle striker set for transfer
The elusive Facundo Ferreyra could be set to leave Newcastle in the January transfer window.
Rarer than a Yoan Gouffran goal or a Mike Williamson pass to a teammate more than five yards away, the Argentinian striker hasn’t set foot on the first team pitch in the five months he’s been at St. James’ Park.
However, over in Italy the media in the form of Sky Sport Italia, say that their information is that Serie A side Genoa are going to move for Ferreyra.
They report that the Italian club who are currently in sixth place, want to push for a European place and are willing to pay £400,000 to take Facundo Ferreyra on loan to the end of the season, with then an option to pay Shakhtar Donetsk £7m to make the deal permanent.
It would be a really interesting and strange scenario, if Ferreyra did make the move and banged in loads of goals in Italy. That would really leave everybody wondering exactly why Alan Pardew never gave him a single chance, even as a sub, despite serious shortcomings up front for Newcastle all season.
