Cheick Tiote says Newcastle must improve

Cheick Tiote says that Newcastle must improve on their display against Arsenal or else it will be more misery at White Hart Lane on Wednesday.

The Newcastle midfielder claimed that he thought United could have got back into the match when Perez made it 3-1, but surely that is very wishful thinking, as by that point United were a poor second best.

Tiote himself was poor as the Gunners comfortably won the midfield battle.

It will be interesting to see what Alan Pardew does with his team selection as he is sure to bring Moussa Sissoko back in after his suspension.

Cheick Tiote speaking to the club website;

“When Ayoze (Perez) scored (to make it 3-1) it gave us the confidence that we could get back into the game, we tried to push and push to make it closer.

“Because of that we then conceded the fourth goal on the break,  that can happen when you are chasing the game.”

Still have belief;

“We’ve been on a very good run and still have confidence in ourselves, but we have to improve.

“We know we can do better than this and we will learn from the match.

Putting it right on Wednesday;

“We didn’t defend well enough as a team and did not do the right things on the pitch. We have to learn quickly to put it right for Wednesday night against Tottenham.”
