Breaking: Official club statement Pardew given permission to speak to Palace

Alan Pardew has been given permission to speak to Crystal Palace regarding the vacant manager’s job.

Following his non-appearance at the post-Everton press conference, speculation mounted that Pardew could be leaving Newcastle.

Monday saw mounting rumours throughout the day but nothing concrete, until just after 10.30pm tonight.

The club releasing an official statement saying that a compensation figure had been agreed, with speculated figures by various media of at least £2m.

NUFC also confirming that John Carver will take training on Tuesday with Pardew absent.

Club Statement

Newcastle United can confirm that Crystal Palace have made a formal approach requesting permission to speak to Alan Pardew in relation to their vacant managerial position.  Crystal Palace have offered compensation at a level whereby Alan has now been permitted to speak to them.

As a result of this development today Alan will not be at training on Tuesday.  Training will be the responsibility of assistant manager John Carver.

The club will make a further announcement in due course.
