Another blow as top Newcastle player misses Tottenham
To add insult to injury, Newcastle United will be missing their best player on Wednesday night at White Hart Lane, with Daryl Janmaat picking up his fifth yellow card of the season at the Emirates and becoming the latest Newcastle player to pick up a suspension.
Janmaat was one of the few to do himself justice against Arsenal and I suppose the only silver lining is it should guarantee that the Dutch defender is in perfect shape to face Sunderland next Sunday.
Easily the most consistent United player this campaign, Alan Pardew has said that while Newcastle will miss having Daryl Janmaat against Spurs, he has a lot of good players who can come in for him at right-back.
Funnily enough the Newcastle manager didn’t elaborate on exactly who these other great right-backs are…
“Daryl Janmaat will be a big miss on Wednesday.
“He was terrific today (v Arsenal), he kept going and even at the end on the fourth goal he’s trying to get in the box and make something happen.
“He’s brilliant for us and he’ll be a big miss, but we have some good players to come in.”
