Alan Pardew wants to ‘Threaten Chelsea’ and exploit their weaknesses

At his pre-match press conference, Alan Pardew has said that he wants to ‘threaten Chelsea’.

In the last two matches against inferior opposition, Newcastle have posed very little threat to either West Ham or Burnley’s goal.

With only one shot on target against the Hammers and not much more threat, apart from the goal, at Turf Moor. United will need to raise their game if they are to trouble the visitors.

Chelsea have only conceded 11 goals in their 14 Premier League matches and are looking formidable in their title challenge.

Alan Pardew is targeting their weaknesses though…;

“We need to threaten Chelsea because they look terrific. They are a great team who are strong and organised.”

“Somewhere along the line Chelsea will slip up and hopefully we can exploit any weaknesses they have.

“Mentally we’re in a strong position and our confidence is high. We have good spirit and are learning lessons along the way.”

Sunderland though proved that Chelsea are fallible last weekend and prevented them scoring, the mackems could have even snatched a win in the final stages.

However, it was the first time this season that Chelsea have failed to score and I can’t see lightning striking twice in the north east, so United need to score if they are going to get anything out of the game.

At the back, United may once again have to do without Fabricio Coloccini after the manager revealed he was back training but not sure whether he’d be fit enough to play on Saturday.
