Alan Pardew says he hasn’t even considered emergency loan yet

Alan Pardew has said that so far Newcastle united haven’t even looked at bringing in a goalkeeper via an emergency loan.

Since Rob Elliot joined Tim Krul on the injury list, debate has raged this week as to whether United have been trying to bring a short-term goalkeeper in, or indeed whether the current circumstances would lead to the Premier League giving special dispensation.

However, in his reply to a question on the subject at his pre-match Arsenal press conference, the manager appears to have answered on both points.

Pardew saying that they haven’t looked at bringing an emergency keeper in ‘…at this stage’, while referring to the fact that in Alnwick and Woodman United do indeed hav etwo professional first team keepers despite their lack of experience and youth.

Alan Pardew asked whether considered an emergency loan;

“Not at this stage, no, because we have two professionals that are fit.

“If one of them wasn’t fit then we would definitely have to look at that.”

Surely with these cases they should be looked at on the individual circumstances and at 17 with not a minute of first team experience, surely you can’t compare Freddie Woodman to say a team that might have a keeper who is more experienced and/or older than Woodman.
