Alan Pardew leaving – Surely you can see it’s just him and Ashley torturing us?
Alan Pardew is leaving Newcastle United and going to manage Crystal Palace….that will be right!
Why can’t some people see that this is just one big game for Mike Ashley – and his manager by default?
Obviously it is all speculation as regards what is going on at the minute with manager and owner but that is always the case with Ashley.

My own view is that the infamous eight year contract was solely about attaching Pardew to Ashley legally long-term, with no chance of escape for Alan Pardew.
The owner doesn’t care about Pardew’s ‘talents’ as a manager/coach, just so long as he goes along with the plan and says what he is told to say to the press then he is doing his job.
The latest Crystal Palace tale appears to be as follows; Warnock is sacked, Pardew is predictably included in mentions/betting as a candidate to get the Palace job, then either Ashley/Pardew or one of their gang put out the word that it is going to happen and Alan Pardew is suddenly odds on favourite to get the job.
Pardew then doesn’t do the post-Everton press conferences and it is supposedly because he doesn’t want to answer questions about Palace.
Howay man, at every press conference Pardew talks some nonsense and gives ridiculous answers to countless questions, often misleading – do you honestly think he would be worried about being asked if he was to Selhurst Park? He’d just give some embarrassing patter about yes he was looking forward to go there in February ([intlink id=”191″ type=”page”]for the away Palace fixture[/intlink]).
Whether it was Ashley’s orders or Pardew’s arrogance, I don’t think you need to scratch too deep to find out why Pardew body swerved the press duties.
Does anybody seriously think either that Palace would pay the supposed £5m compensation for a manager as hopeless as Alan Pardew? Freddie Shepherd might have been daft enough to pay millions in compensation to Blackburn just as they were due to sack Graeme Souness but I don’t think the Palace hierarchy are quite that stupid.
As for the betting, anybody with a clue about these next manager betting markets knows that bookies won’t take more than minimal bets as of course they know that some people could know for certain who would get the job. Very little money can lead to somebody ending odds on like Pardew has, as word spreads of ‘inside’ knowledge that it is happening via the internet/pub/Twitter/whatever.
Sometime in the future Mike Ashley will dispense with Alan Pardew but I don’t see that time being now, unless he has got an even cheaper option!
The idea of Pardew taking some kind of principled stand (four years too late) about selling players and lack of investment is laughable.
We are stuck with the two of them and you’d better get used to it, I would bet on it!
