Alan Pardew – ‘Important we do some business in January window’

Alan Pardew has stated that it is vital Newcastle bring in some new players in January, as well as getting the injured back.

However, we have heard this all before prior to transfer windows and just because the Newcastle manager says signings are essential, it doesn’t mean it is going to happen.

In the lead up to the Manchester United match this afternoon, Pardew has said that if his players can beat Man U and the Everton and Burnley, it will ‘put us in a great position’;

“West Ham away’s tough, Arsenal is tough, Tottenham with the injuries we had, tough.

“Sunday we have lost a game we really wanted to win, maybe we have tried to hard to win it.

“I look at those four games as a basis and said we have got Man U now, we must try to get a win.

Not far from the top…’

“Against the top teams we have done well, we’re ninth in the division – we’re not far away from the top.

“If we get a win it is Everton and Burnley at home and it could put us in a great position.”

It depends how you define ‘top’ doesn’t it. Chelsea are 19 points ahead, West Ham in fourth are 8 points in front, so guess that Pards means sixth (Arsenal 4 points ahead) when he says ‘top’.

Do some business…;

“So it is all to play for and I do think this team is stable, it is a strong middle of the Premier League team and we need to be better than that if we can.

“I think this January is important – it is important that big players come back to us and we do some business.”

Hopefully when Pardew talks about doing business, he isn’t referring to selling Moussa Sissoko…
