Alan Pardew has named four Newcastle players who didn’t deserve to be left out of his starting eleven against Chelsea.

The United boss saying that he explained to the players as a group before the match, saying he felt he had to pick a team that could cause Chelsea problems.

Head of the players who Pardew felt shouldn’t have been left out, were Yoan Gouffran, Massadio Haidara, Papiss Cisse and Mike Williamson.

The latter two of course coming on as substitutes.

Alan Pardew;

“I have said to the players yesterday, that I’ve got to pick a team and so many players didn’t deserve to be left out.

“Gouffran, Williamson, Cisse, in particular…and (Mas)sadio Haidara who has been brilliant at left-back.

“But I had to pick a team that I thought would cause Chelsea problems, as well as defend well.”

We know Papiss is going to score;

“Papiss is going to score goals and we know that. I don’t think he is 100% so we’ve got to protect him.

“So he’ll come on, start some, but whatever he’s done he’s never moaned and done his job.”
