Tyrone Mings reported a target for Newcastle United and half the Premier League
Tyrone Mings is reported to be a target for Newcastle United and half the rest of the Premier League, according to reports this morning.
The Ipswich defender is also said to be interesting Manchester United, Everton and Arsenal amongst others.
Sir Bobby Robson’s old club have one of the tightest defences in the Championship having conceded only 17 goals in 17 matches, a major factor in their fourth position in the table only two points off the top.
Twenty one year old Mings has become number one left-back since Aaron Cresswell was signed by West Ham in the summer, getting rave reviews as he has featured in all but one of Ipswich’s Championship matches so far.
At 6 ft 3 he is tall for a left-back and has also filled in at right-back when needed, plus as we all know, Alan Pardew seems to have a bit of a fetish for accumulating left-backs and using a couple of them regularly in the same match.
Not the average footballer off the pitch either, as Tyrone Mings offered to pay for new shirts for any Ipswich fans who had bought one with his usual number 15 on the back, after Cresswell was sold to the Hammers and Mings handed the number 3 shirt instead.
Even more unusual, the Ipswich youngster chose to spend last Christmas Day helping to feed homeless people and give them a day to remember.
I knew that with Titus Bramble and Kieron Dyer now coaching at Ipswich these days, their influence would soon rub off!
