Tim Krul could be out until next year

It was revealed yesterday that Tim Krul had picked up ‘a knock’ in training and was doubtful for Saturday’s match with West Ham.

However, now the Chronicle are reporting that the number one keeper could be missing until the new year after landing awkwardly on his ankle.

This couldn’t have happened at a worse time if the Dutch Keeper does indeed miss the next month or so.

Krul hasn’t conceded a goal for five weeks and has looked right back to somewhere near his best.

The festive period is always a busy one but when you include the welcome surprise of continuing League Cup involvement, Newcastle face 11 matches in only 43 days, a period which will surely decide much of the course of the rest of this season, one way or another.

Rob Eliot looks set to deputise tomorrow and whilst at times he has done ok, he is no Tim Krul.
