Smile when we’re winning, we only…

Monday morning and Newcastle fans are celebrating another fantastic win, I could only watch this one from the comfort of the bar but that did not spoil the enjoyment in any way, shape or form, in fact being able to relive instantly the world class finish from Perez gave me something to savour!

Speaking of that finish, if the likes of Messi, Ronaldo or closer to home, Costa (ED: or Aguero!) had produced that, then the whole world would be talking, so let us hope Sky choose to keep showing it in the weeks to come.

From 1 to 11 yesterday the team again performed. As I was one of Pardew’s biggest critics I again have to eat a little humble pie and admire what he is currently doing, does it make up for the previous nine months?  Well not yet but without doubt he is moving us in the right direction.

One player who does not grab headlines but is very effective is Medhi Abeid, filling in for Tiote he is going about his business with quiet efficiency,  in recent weeks he has subdued the likes of Toure and Gerrard with ease, and yesterday apart from a couple of very ambitious shots at goal he was very impressive.

Again I have to mention the age of the team, there are some bright young things coming through the ranks these days, not before time I might add, I just hope they can carry on improving as a group because who knows what can be achieved…

So we have a little break and then QPR up here, while they too are an improving side we could have another 3 points on the board which would set us up nicely for some awkward fixtures, fixtures that a month ago would be a terrifying prospect, not so now!

So while it has been another good week, I can’t let it pass without mentioning the truly great news that Jonas has beaten the awful illness that is testicular cancer, if and when we see Jonas back in Newcastle it will be quite an emotional occasion for sure.

By the way boys, get them checked!

I thought the gesture from the Baggies fans yesterday was a nice touch, and they should be applauded for that, there is a lot of good stuff going on between fans of rival clubs these days, and that can only be good!

It’s an international break but I have little or no interest in international football, I have seen plenty NUFC flags if England are on TV so some up here do follow our national team, for me however it is an unnecessary inconvenience, it now seems an age to wait for our next game, but hopefully a couple of players will get fit.

It would be nice to have Arrons, Tiote, Taylor etc fit to give Pardew a selection headache, and as time progresses and if we are still doing ok, it would be really nice to have the long-term absentees also back in the squad.

Well have another great week everyone, the world sure is a better place when we are winning.
