Sergio Aguero can only dream of matching Alan Shearer
Sergio Aguero can only dream of matching Alan Shearer.
The Manchester City striker proved midweek with his hat-trick against Bayern Munich that he is their only true world class player but when you look at the stats, he is still way behind Alan Shearer goal for goal.
In his first 99 Premier League matches for Man City, Aguero has scored 64 goals.
To match Alan Shearer’s record in his first 100 matches in the Premier League, Sergio Aguero would have to score a slightly unlikely 15 goals this afternoon.
Aguro is already third best with 64 goals and one match to add to that total, Van Nistelrooy second best on 68, but Alan Shearer top of the tree with 79.
79 Alan Shearer
68 Ruud Van Nistelrooy
64 Sergio Aguero (in 99 PL games)
While those goals were before he moved to Newcastle, he didn’t let up with his unbelievable goalscoring record.
There is no doubt that over the years Newcastle fans were spolit by having a striker like Shearer and you can’t help but take him for granted after a certain time.
Only after his retirement did we realise how lucky we had been to land the best striker in England, and possibly the world, when he signed for United.
