Sam Allardyce ‘It was always going to be 1-0’
Our old friend Sam Allardyce summed up this afternoon’s West Ham v Newcastle clash when he said ‘it was always going to be 1-0’ to one of the two teams.
With both teams playing with just one up front, though the two managers will claim they had an attacking trio…it was always likely that one goal could decide the game.
Newcastle were the better team but few chances were created either way, then typically in a tight game it was a fluke goal that decided the three points.
Sam Allardyce;
“Have to say it was a fantastic finish from Aaron Cresswell, it was fortuitous he got into that position – he is a full-back and just carried on into the box.
“It was always going to be 1-0.
“It is a massive win for us as Newcastle are an in-form side and we get back onto the winning trail going into December.”
Newcastle would have been joint fourth with Manchester United if they had won but instead slip to eighth, whilst the Hammers climb to fifth and only one point behind Man Utd.
The next wining win has to begin at [intlink id=”191″ type=”page”]Burnley on Tuesday night.[/intlink]
