The players who have created the Newcastle United goals

Just who are the players who have created the Newcastle United goals?

While the goalscorers are easy to remember, the players who create the chances are usually a bit more difficult to recall.

Last season Newcastle had twelve different players credited with assists throughout the season.

Moussa Sissoko was easily top of the list with eight, well ahead of Hatem Ben Arfa with five, though the winger played so few matches that it is amazing he got so many.

However, Ben Arfa is one of five of the twelve credited with assists, who are no longer at the football club, between them these five players were responsible for 14 of the 34 official assists.

The full list being;

Sissoko (8), Ben Arfa (5), Cisse (4), Debuchy (3), Gouffran (3), Remy (3), Cabaye (2), Sammy Ameobi (2), Williamson (1), De Jong (1), Tiote (1), Anita (1)

In the absence of an obvious playmaker, it is a real positive that this season Newcastle already have had ten different players who have at last one official assist to their name.

As well as scoring one, Daryl Janmaat also created both goals at West Brom, so no wonder he is proving popular when combined with his very decent defensive work so far.

Ironically, Sissoko still awaits his first assist of the season, despite Alan Pardew yesterday talking about him having filled the position vacated by Yohan Cabaye.

2 Daryl Janmaat

2 Sammy Ameobi (one of those in League Cup)

2 Adam Armstrong (both in League Cup)

1 Remy Cabella

1 Gabriel Obertan

1 Jack Colback

1 Emmanuel Riviere

1 Yoan Gouffran

1 Cheick Tiote

1 Papiss Cisse
