Pardew confirms Coloccini injury – Hopes he’s back for Chelsea
Alan Pardew has now confirmed that Fabricio Coloccini will be out at least until December.
The Newcastle manager says that his Captain will definitely miss the next three matches, which are QPR at home, followed by West Ham and Burnley away.
However, the following match at home to Chelsea is only four days after that midweek visit to Burnley, so you would have to assume that Coloccini could be struggling for that game as well, after limping off late on in the game at West Brom.
Speaking to the London Evening Standard Alan Pardew confirmed the injury;
“We have so many young players we are not sure how good they are going to be.
“We have had serious blows through injury this year. Our biggest signing, Siem de Jong, has played one game, Fabricio Coloccini will miss the next three games.”
The Newcastle manager also compared his Captain to a lion on a hill ‘looking over his brood’;
“He’s a terrific presence on the pitch, not only a leader of men but he has a great way of leading. He never looks ruffled and gives that assurance to the team.
“In a pride of lions, he is the lion sitting on the hill looking over his brood, so losing him is going to be a blow.”
