Newcastle United official statement on Remie Streete emergency recall
Earlier this afternoon Sky Sports reported that Newcastle United were making Remie Streete the subject of an emergency recall to St.James’ Park.
Only last week the twenty year old Geordie defender had agreed to extend his stay at Port Vale until January.
However, the growing injury problems have led Newcastle United to release the following to the media following Sky’s earlier report;
STREETE RECALLED FROM PORT VALE LOAN
Remie Streete has been recalled from his loan spell with League One side Port Vale.
Last week the 20-year-old, who has made three appearances for the Valiants, agreed to extend his stay at Vale Park until 4th January 2015.
While on the official club website they say that Alan Pardew has simply ‘brought the promising central defender back as cover’.
Though they did acknowledge that Steven Taylor missed out at West Brom on Sunday through injury and that Fabricio Coloccini limped off with a calf injury.
Allowing Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa to go out on loan without bringing in a replacement, was always liable to leave United potentially short at the back, though a real bonus has been Paul Dummett’s versatility in covering there so far.
