Newcastle star claims the quality was always there
Newcastle midfielder Jack Colback.claims that the ‘quality was always there’ even when United failed to win in their opening seven Premier League matches.
The Geordie who returned to Tyneside from Wearside believes that the team are now solid at the back and pose a threat going forward.
After crawling out of the relegation zone, Sunday’s match at the Hawthorns poses different challenges and should prove an excellent guide as to which direction Newcastle are really heading in.
“The quality was always there but we weren’t winning games, when you go on a run without a win it can be difficult.
“We look solid at the back and look a real threat going forward, teams watching us will be highlighting that danger we maybe weren’t showing in the first few games.”
TV horror show;
“We were really struggling in the bottom three and it was horrible looking at the league table every time on the TV but we have won three games now and we briefly went into the top ten at the weekend (after beating Liverpool).”
Obviously goals are crucial but this recent run has been built on the foundations of a better defence, with the much maligned Steven Taylor’s return coinciding with the change of fortunes at both ends of the pitch.
