New contract for Rolando Aarons?
After reports of Liverpool and Manchester City showing interest in Rolando Aarons’ progress, it is now claimed that Newcastle United are belatedly trying to tie the young winger down to a longer deal.
A Sunday Times article had stated that Aarons’ deal, only signed earlier this year, runs out at the end of this season, with an option of an extra year, though how tied either party is to this arrangement of another 12 months is unknown.
Exactly why Newcastle had given the player such a short deal is a mystery, although having had their fingers burnt handing out five years or more contracts to young players such as Nile Ranger, Shane Ferguson and others could have played a part.
The Chronicle now say that they understand the club are renegotiating with Rolando Aarons.
How much of that story is a guess is anybody’s…guess, but regardless of that you would expect that Newcastle United are now trying to make sure that a player who looks to have real talent is given a contract that matches his swift progress.
