Moussa Sissoko sets target of emulating Gary Speed and Robert Lee
Moussa Sissoko has been the driving force behind Newcastle’s winning run and now has set targets for both himself and the team.
The midfielder says he aims to score at least seven goals and so far he has the winner in the league against QPR and the one that finished Man City off in the League Cup.
Both goals this season plus ones that stick in your mind like those against Chelsea when he first arrived and the screamer against West Brom.
With 8 goals in 71 matches for Newcastle, it would be great if he can step up his goals tally and be that midfielder who can aim for double figures each season, something that United haven’t really had since Gary Speed and Robert Lee.
Speaking to the Shields Gazette, Moussa Sissoko said;
“I’m not a striker, but I want to score between seven and 10 goals,” he said.
“It was my first goal in the league (this season) and I’m very happy for that, if we can win every game and if I can score, I will be happy for that.”
When it comes to United’s final league position Sissoko is demanding eighth with the hope of higher;
“Maybe, it is true that at the moment I’m playing well and happy.
“I will try to continue like this and if we can finish in the top eight it would be good for me and the team – it is too early to say whether we can finish fifth or sixth or seventh.
“We will just try to get a lot of points and in the second part of the season, we will see where we can finish.”
Having a midfielder who can contribute double figures would make that second aim so much more achievable and Moussa has all the attributes to do it.
