Jonas Gutierrez trains with old club as Pardew gives Newcastle return update
More positive news on the Jonas Gutierrez front as it has been revealed that the Argentinian international has been training with his first club, Velez Sarsfield.
Jonas started his career at the Argentinian club and won the league title before moving to Spain and Real Mallorca.
Meanwhile, Alan Pardew has confirmed earlier rumours that Jonas Gutierrez could be ready to return to Newcastle in around a month’s time to resume training with his teammates.
Though Pardew is keen to stress that the player will have to go at his own pace in deciding when he is ready to make that comeback;
“It is massive news for the squad because Jonas is a much-loved figure here.
“His surgeon says that in about a month’s time he should be able to cope with professional training. We are not rushing him in any shape or form but just letting Jonas have some time, it is such an illness that you do need a lot of recovery time for that.
“He is in great shape though and Colo tells me he is in good form, we are looking forward to seeing him.”
While Jonas was battling cancer, Velez Sarsfield produced a video tribute to help inspire their ex-player, watch it HERE.
