Fans’ choice of Newcastle starting 11 v West Brom
Thanks to everybody who contributed to the votes for the fans’ choice of Newcastle starting 11 v West Brom.
The recent run of games appears to have produced strong opinions from supporters as to who should and…shouldn’t be in the team on Sunday.
Aarons (87%) is the massive favourite ahead of Sammy Ameobi (27%) to claim a place on the wing in Obertan’s absence.
Even taking into account fans voting with maybe the expectation Tiote (30%) will be missing through injury anyway, I do feel that such a big vote for Mehdi Abeid (77%) makes clear that fans think he deserves to stay in the team even if Cheick Tiote was available.
Up front, again some will maybe have voted with the thought Cisse (57%) might not be fit enough to start, but Perez (57%) with winners in consecutive Premier League matches against Spurs and Liverpool has done more than enough to be in competition to start anyway.
Remy Cabella (56%) has also suggested in substitute appearances that he is getting into the swing of things.
Maybe the biggest swing though on previous polls, is that Paul Dummett (74%) has massively outpointed Massadio Haidara (25%), the excellent performance against Raheem Sterling swaying many supporters no doubt. In almost every other vote we’ve ran, Haidara has easily been preferred to the Geordie full-back.
Looking towards the bottom, there is absolutely no appetite for fans to see Emmanuel Riviere, Vurnon Anita or Yoan Gouffran reclaiming their places any time soon.
The first eleven are in bold, with the rest below.
88% Steven Taylor
27% Sammy Ameobi
22% Ryan Taylor
