Double centre midfield blow for Newcastle visit to Burnley
United have lost their engine room for the Burnley v Newcastle match on Tuesday night.
As well as the first loss in six Premier League matches, United have lost the two players who have anchored the centre of midfield in that run.
The first booking might have actually helped him as he will get only a one match ban for two bookings, he made it an easy decision for referee Mike Dean to give him a second yellow and red rather than what could easily have been a red for that one offence alone and a three match ban.
A fifth booking of the season for Jack Colback means that he will also serve a one game suspension on Tuesday.
Alan Pardew will now be sweating on Cheick Tiote being ok after his return to first team action after only returning to training in the last few days.
Whether Mehdi Abeid will be rushed back we’ll have to wait and see, otherwise Pardew may be pressed into giving Vurnon Anita another chance after ignoring him following really poor form when he has been on the pitch this season.
