Demba Ba says Newcastle and Chelsea fans don’t compare
Former United striker Demba Ba has said that Newcastle and Chelsea fans don’t compare to those of his new club Besiktas.
Ba has raved about the passion of the supporters since arriving in Turkey and claims that hearing about the dedication of fans was one of the key reasons for making the move, not the money of course…
However good, or not, Besiktas fans are, I have to say I have never heard a player arriving at a new club stating that his new fans are rubbish compared to previous clubs he’s been at.
Speaking on Turkish radio to TRT, Demba Ba had this to say;
“Before I joined I asked good friends Moussa Sow, former Fenerbahçe player Dia and the ex-Sivasspor player (Jacques) Faty about Turkey.
“They all advised me to join, telling me about the passion and how great Turkish fans were.”
Best fans in the World;
“After experiencing it first hand I can say that Beşiktaş probably have the best fans you will find anywhere in the world.
“I have played in front of clubs with great fans such as Newcastle, Chelsea and West Ham but honestly, nothing compares to Beşiktaş.”
Not sure what they are saying…;
“I don’t understand what they are saying and chanting but it sounds fantastic, the melodies are very nice.”
The twenty nine year old forward signed for Besiktas in the summer for around £6m and has seven goals in eleven starts (all competitions) at the minute.
Standing two points off the top in the League, the Turkish club were knocked out of the Champions League by Arsenal and have a win and a draw (against Spurs) in the Europa League.
