Counter-claims on Coloccini and Steven Taylor missing through injury

This morning it was widely reported by the national newspapers that Fabricio Coloccini and Steven Taylor would definitely miss the QPR match and possibly a month or more of action into December.

The likes of the Mirror and Daily all reported the same story of a muscle injury for Coloccini and Taylor missing with a knee problem.

The Newcastle Captain had limped off towards the end of the West Brom win and Steven Taylor had missed due to an unspecified injury problem.

Now however, the Chronicle are claiming that Taylor will train this week, suggesting both could be OK for Saturday, reporting that Coloccini will simply be assessed when he returns from Argentina, quoting Alan Pardew from a week ago when he said ‘I’m hoping Colo comes through’.

Obviously we’ll find out on Saturday who is carrying the most reliable reporting, though no doubt whoever proves to have called it wrong with have an explanation/excuse as to things changing in between.

What is undisputed is that Remie Streete was an emergency recall from his loan spell at Port Vale and you’d have to ask why on earth they’d bother recalling somebody who hasn’t played a single minute for the first team, if the odds were so in favour of at least one and probably both Taylor and Coloccini being available this weekend and the following matches.
