Clear vote from fans on which Newcastle centre backs should face QPR

We asked you to vote on which Newcastle centre backs should face QPR in the next Premier League match.

The four obvious/only candidates being Fabricio Coloccini, Steven Taylor, Paul Dummett and Mike Williamson, thanks to everybody who took the time to vote.

Colo limped off against West Brom whilst Steven Taylor missed through injury, while Mike Williamson was on the bench at the Hawthorns.

However, Alan Pardew’s early indications were that all four would be available for selection a week on Saturday against QPR.

However, the emergency early recall of Remie Streete from his loan period at Port Vale has thrown the issue into confusion, though there have been claims that this is only a precaution.

So we gave fans the choice of these partnerships and as you can see there is a clear winner and a clear second, with the rest nowhere.

59% Coloccini & Dummett

34% Coloccini & Steven Taylor

  3% Dummett & Steven Taylor

  2% Coloccini & Williamson

  1% Dummett & Williamson

  1% Steven Taylor & Williamson

In recent matches Fabricio Coloccini has been back at hi sbest and it would be cruel irony if now injury took him off the pitch.

Fans clearly see him as first choice with 95% including him in their choice of Newcastle centre backs.

First choice to partner him is Paul Dummett who has impressed in his two games this season in the middle, while Steven Taylor has reclaimed some of the support he has lost in recent times, thanks no doubt to a remarkable record of Newcastle winning every match Taylor has started this season.
