Brendan Rodgers can’t believe Liverpool lost after having ‘Almost full control’
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has said that he can’t believe his players lost against Newcastle after having ‘Almost full control’ during the ninety minutes.
The visiting manager saying that they were punished by one mistake and other than that they passed the ball well and had good options in front of the ball.
The other stats (from BBC Sport website) show that Newcastle had 14 shots to Liverpool’s six and seven corners to the scousers’ two.
Almost full control;
“It is a game we had almost full control of, though maybe we didn’t create as many opportunities as we would like, but we get punished by a mistake and it’s cost us the game.
“I think that we passed the ball well, the options in front of the ball were good, though we probably lacked that little bit of quality in the final third.”
Balotelli wasn’t top blame;
“We’ve collectively lost as a team, we’ve got to analyse it and move on. It [Balotelli’s arriving late onto the pitch at start of the second half] had no bearing on the result.”
“Progress this season was always going to be a slow process because of so many changes, we haven’t started how we would like, but we will improve.”
Difficult for Liverpool fans;
“Understandably for supporters it will be a difficult time. We can only continue to work hard. Patience is always the key, especially when results aren’t going as you would wish.”
