American TV coverage of Newcastle, Liverpool, Sunderland and rest of PL
Interesting to look at what interest the huge American TV coverage is taking in Newcastle United compared to the rest of the Premier League clubs.
United have a run of 7 out of 9 Premier League fixtures in December/January being shown live in the UK on either Sky Sports or BT Sport.
Over the other side of the Atlantic, the central coverage is provided by NBC Sports via NBCSN, NBC and CNBC.
Including the upcoming weekend’s fixtures, this is how many times each Premier League club has been shown;
12 Liverpool
11 Manchester United
11 Chelsea
10 Manchester City
9 Arsenal
8 Tottenham
7 QPR
7 Aston Villa
6 Leicester
5 Stoke
5 Newcastle United
5 West Ham
5 Swansea
5 Everton
4 West Brom
4 Crystal Palace
3 Burnley
3 Hull
3 Southampton
2 Sunderland
Clearly form isn’t having any major impact on American TV choices, at least not at the minute.
Bottom half of the table Liverpool have had every single game shown prominently, while second in the table Southampton barely have been shown.
Obviously the attraction of an American owner and Jozy Altidore down the road isn’t exactly capturing the imagination either…
