Alan Pardew names Newcastle’s key player
Alan Pardew has revealed who Newcastle’s key player has been this season.
Responding to a question about United not being as reliant on one player as they were with Yohan Cabaye previously, the Newcastle manager acknowledged that circumstances were slightly different now but that Moussa Sissoko had been the main man this season.
Sissoko had looked lost for much of the past ten months, a player who didn’t appear to have a true position and who ran around a lot but to little effect.
In recent matches though, he has played with a lot more purpose, perhaps liberated by ineffective players such as Anita and Gouffran being left out and replaced by younger players who are showing more purpose and ambition.
Pardew also claims that everybody maybe takes Moussa Sissoko a little bit for granted.
(Question after Liverpool on NUFC TV) Does it help we’re not as reliant on one player as we were with Yohan Cabaye?
“Well no, but you look at what we do and Moussa Sissoko is a big part of that.
“He was a massive man today (v Liverpool).
“He doesn’t get man of the match because we just take him for granted but he is a huge presence in this team and been our best player (this season).”
