Seventeen year old Callum Roberts has used his Twitter account to let everybody know that he has been included in the Newcastle v QPR squad for tomorrow’s match.

Geordie winger Roberts has shown what an emerging talent he is with some eyecatching displays for the Newcastle Under 21s.

Spotted as a kid playing for the ‘Whitley Bay Sproggs’, Roberts joined United at the age of eight and hasn’t looked back.

Using Twitter on Friday afternoon, Callum Roberts wrote;

“Absolutely buzzing to be in the first team squad tomorrow against QPR”

Modelling himself on Lionel Messi, Ronaldo and Hatem Ben Arfa, the left footed winger caught the eye on the recent live TV broadcast of Newcastle’s reserve match at Stoke.

While Ryan Taylor was man of the moment with two superb goals (Watch them HERE), Stoke’s assistant manager (and TV pundit for the night) Mark Bowen raved about Callum Roberts’ contribution.

Having watched the young winger at close quarters in recent times, both Peter Beardsley and Ryan Taylor have also been quick to mark him down as a future potential star.

Wingers with pace and great close control who take their opponents on, are exactly what fans want to see, even better when it is one of their own as in Callum Roberts from North Shields.

Watch this superb goal below from a tournament this summer in Germany to see why Callum Roberts is catching so many eyes;
