An ongoing trial in Scotland has revealed claims that a man slapped and bit his wife, then attempted to assault Newcastle owner Mike Ashley.

Accountant Derek Mitchell is accused of various assaults during his marriage to Radio DJ Suzie McGuire, a number of them alleged to have happened in public.

One of these was in December 2011 when Suzie McGuire was involved in a Glasgow charity fundraiser for ‘Cash 4 Kids’ and Mike Ashley gave her a cuddle afterwards, congratulating her on the event.

Suzie McGuire telling the jury at Paisley Sheriff Court;

“I know Mike Ashley quite well. He gave me a cuddle and said, ‘Well done today, you’ve raised an amazing amount of money.’

“Derek (Mitchell) lost it. He slapped me across the face and bit me on the shoulder in front of company, in front of quite a lot of people.

“Mike Ashley was standing right beside me and Derek actually tried to hit him.

“Derek was trying to punch him and at one point threw a punch and missed.”
