Tottenham v Newcastle Player Ratings – Independent Source
What were your Tottenham v Newcastle player ratings?
Interesting to get an outside perspective and the industry leader for an independent viewpoint is the whoscored rating system (used by numerous sections of the football industry; including media, bookmakers and clubs themselves).
Over 200 raw statistics are used to calculate the player ratings and are weighted according to influence in the game – taking into account the area of the pitch and its outcome for each important event.
Any system that exclusively uses automatically driven data to produce results naturally lacks the human touch, so at times I’m not too sure it gets everything right…much like the human version where the observer’s personal subconscious bias brings other negatives into play.
However judge for yourself.
The overall marks for the two teams gave an average (out of 10) of 7.15 for Newcastle players compared to 6.47 for Tottenham’s.
The breakdown sees United have the top four performing players of the match, with Sammy Ameobi at the front end, Colback and Sissoko holding the middle, while Janmaat with Steven Taylor just behind, leading the defensive work.
Obviously the ratings at half-time would have told a slightly different story…
7.9 Sammy Ameobi (Sub)
7.5 Cabella (Sub)
7.4 Steven Taylor
6.1 Haidara (Sub)
Tottenham: 7.5 Kaboul, 7.2 Mason, 7.0 Adebayor, 7.0 Rose, 6.5 Capoue, 6.4 Vertonghen, 6.4 Lamela, 6.4 Dier, 6.4 Eriksen, 6.1 Chadli, 5.8 Lloris,
Subs: 6.2 Kane, 6.2 Soldado, 6.8 Lennon
