Swansea v Newcastle Player Ratings – Independent Source
What were your Swansea v Newcastle player ratings?
Interesting to get an outside perspective and the industry leader for an independent viewpoint is the whoscored rating system (used by numerous sections of the football industry; including media, bookmakers and clubs themselves).
Over 200 raw statistics are used to calculate the player ratings and are weighted according to influence in the game – taking into account the area of the pitch and its outcome for each important event.
Any system that uses automatically driven data to produce results will have the odd blip…
So while I think Papiss Cisse clearly deserve to be man of the match, I find it hard to understand Obertan getting a higher mark than Rotledge, similarly with Sammy Ameobi and Dyer. Both Newcastle players supplied an assist but I can’t remember much else.
On the other hand Krul made some class saves and no machine can judge properly just how good that one was down low to his left when he was going the other way.
While I didn’t think Sissoko was much good yesterday, I also think he is a bit unlucky to be wearing the dunce’s hat after the ‘contribution’ Gouffran put in.
7.6 Sammy Ameobi (Sub)
6.1 Riviere (Sub)
5.9 Perez (Sub)
Swansea: 8.1 Sugurdsson, 7.9 Bony, 7.7 Routledge, 7.1 Williams, 7.0 Fernandez, 7.0 Taylor, 6.8 Ki, 6.8 Dyer, 6.4 Shelvey, 6.3 Fabianski, 6.2 Richards
Subs: 6.1 EMnes, 6.0 Montero
