Alan Pardew hopes that Newcastle will be able to beat Tottenham via higher energy levels

While the United boss thinks Spurs have a big enough squad to change their whole team from the side that entertained in the Europa League on Thursday night, he still believes that his team can win through hard work.

While it was hard work which played a big part in Newcastle’s win at White Hart Lane last season, equally or even more so, it was the abilities of players such as Cabaye, Remy and Krul that won the match.

Alan Pardew at his pre-match press conference;

“Hopefully we’ll put energy on the pitch that they can’t match.”

Spurs can play 11 different players;

“The one blessing they do have at Tottenham is that they have an enormous squad. He can play eleven different players if he wishes, probably of the same standard.

“I don’t think it (Europa League) is going to impact as much on them as it did on us. Our squad wasn’t big enough which we openly admitted to.”

Getting blown away;

“We got blown away here before (5-0 in 2011/12), the game was over after fifteen minutes.

“When you are going to White Hart Lane you have got to be prepared for a fast start, a boisterous crowd and good quality.”

Newcastle stepping up to plate;

“Spurs teams always have fantastic quality, we have to step up to the plate and guild on the win we got on Saturday.”
