Pardew confirms star pair miss minimum of two matches
Alan Pardew has confirmed that both Papiss Cisse and Cheick Tiote will miss the Manchester City and Liverpool matches in the coming week.
The earliest possible return would be West Brom on Sunday 9th November, though the way the manager is talking, I wouldn’t be putting too much hope on that either.
By the sounds of it we can’t expect Riviere back any time soon either.
“No I don’t see either of those two (Cisse and Tiote) playing in the next two (Manchester city and Liverpool).
“So that will give us good belief as well because you know four senior players, obviously got De Jong in there (treatment room), Riviere in there and now got Papiss and Cheick.
“It was important we got a win or at least a point, to prove we can do it without them.”
I don’t think I need a crystal ball to also foresee a potential problem coming up very quickly.
If Tiote and Cisse are going to be in the balance for that West Brom match, and even potentially not deemed fit enough.
How well will it go down if Tiote and/or Cisse then still go off for their crucial African Cup of Nations qualifiers? Those matches are on the 14th/15th November and 19th November with the qualification of both Ivory Coast and Senegal hanging in the balance.
