Newcastle United Take On Wallsend ‘Boys’

Peter Beardsley will go back to Wallsend Boys Club with his Newcastle United under 21 team next Tuesday 14th October kick-off 4.30pm – the original date was the 15th Oct but brought forward by a day.

Running alongside the famous junior teams, Wallsend Boys Club’s senior side play in the Northern Alliance First Division and they will host United at their Bigges Main pitch – admission is £3 for adults and free for under 16s.

This will be a great test for the Manager, Steve Cuggy, and his Assistant, Darren Timmons.

They are working to take Wallsend Boys Club’s adult First XI to Division 1 of the Northern League, where they enjoyed several great years with Whitley Bay.

(Peter Beardsley’s side also play Consett at Belle View this Thursday, 9th October. Kick-off 7pm and admission is £6 for adults)

The fame of Wallsend BC is sometimes a handicap because many people assume that due to their success they must be suitably rewarded with public funding.

While various grants helped Wallsend to move to their new base in 2011 which included their first very own football pitches, their then still-used original premises on Station Road had to be demolished when one of the walls was found to be damaged beyond economic repair after high winds.

The bottom line is that Wallsend Boys Club need as much help with funding as possible, especially with public money in such short supply.

You have the ideal way to help while at the same time having a great night out.

On Friday 10 October, Wallsend BC host their annual fundraising dinner with special guest Kevin Connelly, along with a three course meal.

Tables of 10 cost £350 with single tickets also available, call Michael (07903970873) to book your tickets, a small number still available.
