Newcastle United – Independent Player Ratings So Far

Seven Premier League matches into the season – the Newcastle United player ratings.

Twenty players used so far, from those who have played every match, to those who have made brief appearances from the bench.

No analysis is 100% accurate, whether it is with the human eye or calculated automatically.

However, the industry leaders in providing statistical analysis to the football industry is whoscored.com, who are fed data generated automatically from every incident on the pitch, every match in the Premier League.

Using their ratings for every player in every match, this is how the Newcastle United squad have fared so far, with their average ratings out of ten.

A few things stood out for me, including the fact that despite the dire attacking situation Adam Armstrong hasn’t had one minute of Premier League game time – I had to check the stats elsewhere as I was sure he must have…

The other thing for me is that while many people have (quite rightly) pointed to the summer signings being largely disappointing so far, the fact that Coloccini and Krul (until Swansea and now sent home injured by Holland!) and other experienced players have failed badly in stepping up their own games. Making it doubly difficult for the new recruits.
