Newcastle striker nominated for two awards
Newcastle striker Ayoze Perez has been nominated for two gongs at the Spanish Liga de Fútbol Profesional’s awards ceremony next Tuesday.
If the forward travels to the awards night (unlikely as the Cup match at Manchester City is on the next night), he could be rubbing shoulders with the likes of Ronaldo, Iniesta, Costa and Busquets, who are up for some of the main awards.
Perez has been nominated in the two sections after his work last season for CD Tenerife.
The two categories are ‘Best breakthrough player in the 2013/14 Liga Adelante’ section and ‘Best attacking midfielder’ in the second tier of Spanish football.
Perez scored 16 goals last season and many Newcastle fans feel that he deserves more than the usually short substitute cameo appearances he has been getting, while the likes of Riviere, Gouffran and others have shown precious little on the pitch.
I must admit when I heard a Newcastle striker was up for awards, I was convinced one of them must have been Facundo Ferreyra in the World hide and seek Championships….
