In a brief statement Newcastle United have confirmed that Tim Krul suffered an injury whilst on international duty.

The club have said that the Dutch keeper has hurt his elbow and they are now awaiting a scan as to the seriousness of the injury.

Krul was on the bench as the Netherlands defeated Kazakhstan 2-1 on Friday but flew straight home after injuring the elbow during training on Saturday.

Holland face Iceland tonight in their latest European Championship qualifier.

NUFC Official Statement;

‘Newcastle United can confirm that Tim Krul has returned from international duty after suffering an elbow injury.

The Dutch goalkeeper has now been assessed by the Magpies’ medical staff and underwent a scan on Monday.’

It looks almost certain that Tim Krul will miss the Leicester match on Saturday but let’s all hope that it will be little more than that, otherwise a shaky defence could totally fall apart in the coming weeks.
