Want To Wear Black and White But Not Give Money To Mike Ashley? Here’s A Solution
For many years, I went to the match with my friend David.
When he died in 2008, his widow gave me his ‘beer mat’ shirt. This I have worn to St. James’ so that at least a little bit of him can be there.
However, with time, his shirt is beginning to show its age and I have been contemplating a replacement. My problem is that I don’t want to end up in one from a version of S**** D***** or to start advertising what I consider to be an unethical loan company.
The solution was provided by the Moors – Spennymoor Town, with whom I went to Wembley and who I watch moderately frequently.
They play in black and white stripes, advertising the shirt manufacturer.
For others wanting a black and white striped shirt without providing profit for Mr. Ashley, a similar solution might be appropriate. Local sides in bianco e nero include Tow Law Town and Ashington.
If you do go for a Moors shirt, get at least one size bigger than you would normally get ,as they can be a tight fit.
Perhaps one day, I will be able again to buy a Newcastle shirt.
