Last Minute Goal Denies Newcastle Kids Victory Over Manchester City

After kicking off the season with no wins in five league games, Newcastle’s kids came within a whisker of following up last week’s 5-2 win over Derby with a victory over Manchester City.

United took the lead with an own goal by City’s Adarabioyo after 22 minutes, however only seconds after half-time Dilrosun levelled it for the home side.

To their credit the Newcastle Under 18s came right back at Manchester City and got their reward on the hour mark.

Holland picked up a second yellow card and United’s Sean Longstaff hammered home the resultant free-kick.

With seconds left it was heartbreak for Newcastle as Buckley scored from a corner to grab a last gasp point for City.

However, the action wasn’t finished, with United storming up the other end of the pitch and only a last ditch tackle from Manchester City’s Kongolo preventing a dramatic late late winner for the visitors.

International call-ups meant a number of players were missing on both sides.

For Newcastle, Paul Woolston and Freddie Woodman were both away with England so a short-term loan was agreed with, ironically, Manchester United’s George Dorrington who made his Newcastle debut.
