Kieron Dyer shows his usual lack of class

6 years ago

Kieron Dyer has related what really happened between Lee Bowyer and himself, in THAT match against Aston Villa.

Dyer’s ‘blow by blow’ account leaves me feeling the way I felt at the time, both players coming out of it really badly.

The big losers that day of course weren’t the two over paid prima donnas, rather it was the Newcastle United fanbase.

United of course went on to lose that Villa Premier League match 3-0 but much much worse, were the after affects which undoubtedly played a major part in Newcastle exiting from the UEFA Cup at the quarter final stages, and the FA Cup in the semi at Cardiff three days later. The incident destroying any unity within the squad and making the two of them unavailable for the Man Utd match.

Speaking to the Chronicle Dyer said;

“He came short and wanted the ball but I passed it to someone else. He was like ‘Give me the ball’ and I was like ‘I haven’t given the ball away, what you talking about’.

“Five minutes later he came again and I gave it to somebody else.” He said, ‘You never pass to me!’ I said, ‘The reason I don’t pass to you is because you’re **** basically’. There were a lot of swear words. That was it and then you just saw him lose his head.

“He said, ‘You what?’ And I said, ‘You heard me.’ As he was walking towards me I just thought he was going to grab me or push me. When he was raining the punches in I thought, ‘You need to get on the weights because they aren’t hurting.’ Secondly, I was thinking ‘I can’t believe he’s doing this in front of 50,000 people’.”

Ironically it was Dyer himself who was a major culprit in that UEFA Cup exit to Sporting Lisbon, missing an absolute sitter (just for a change…)that would have almost certainly put United through.

The likes of Dyer just don’t seem to understand that when relates the above tale of his clash with Bowyer, it just reinforces all the negatives Newcastle fans believed about him.
