Consett Knock Seven Past Newcastle United XI

A young Newcastle side under the guidance of Peter Beardsley got hit for seven at Consett on Thursday night.

The friendly at Consett’s Belle View home was played on their artificial pitch but that was little excuse for the run around United got in the first half, trailing 5-0 at the break.

United’s Greg Olley pulled a goal back early in the second half but things then went from bad to worse as Consett added a sixth and a seventh.

Two late goals from Heardman and one from Broccoli slightly lessened the embarrassment but hopefully what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger where United’s kids are concerned.

The home side’s Luke Sullivan will have woken up with a smile as he grabbed four of Consett’s seven goals.
