Cheick Tiote Gets Major Boost
Cheick Tiote has had a major boost today, with the Ivory Coast taking a major step towards African Cup Of Nations qualification.
Hammered 4-1 by Cameroon in their last group game, Tiote and teammates bounced back to form with a valuable 2-1 win away at DR Congo.
Wilfried Bony saw an early penalty saved but didn’t let it affect him as he gave the Ivory Coast the lead after 23 minutes.
However, Mongongu levelled things with just over twenty minutes remaining, only for St.Etienne’s Max-Alain Gradel to win it fro Ivory Coast with seven minutes remaining.
Cheick Tiote played the full ninety minutes in a three man midfield with Christian Romaric and Yaya Toure.
Ivory Coast play DR Congo at home on Wednesday, and another win over their group rivals would almost certainly guarantee qualification for the finals, and Cheick Tiote missing for around a month in January/February.
Earlier today confirmation was made that the [intlink id=”48717″ type=”post”]finals would definitely go ahead as scheduled in Morocco [/intlink]despite concerns about Ebola virus that has killed over 4,000 people already.
