Beast Savages Mike Ashley
Mike Ashley can’t help but make the headlines these days, with Labour MP Dennis Skinner referencing the Newcastle United owner this time.
Skinner was dubbed the ‘Beast of Bolsover’ due to his combative style in the House of Commons and has carried on when writing his memoirs, Sailing Close to the Wind, savaging Ashley with some caustic comments.
“I wrote to Ashley asking why at Newcastle United, the football club he owns, a trade union is recognised for the players, but he doesn’t recognise a trade union for the workers at Sports Direct. Ashley never replied.”
“Bosses such as Ashley are why I will be a socialist as long as I breathe.”
“Worth an estimated £3.75 billion, [Ashley’s] loot increased by £1.45 billion (in one year) according to the latest Rich List.”
Helicopter paid for by sweat of those struggling to afford a bus fare;
“Ashley has amassed a fortune even bigger than that grinning tax dodger Richard Branson (who insists he still pays his UK taxes despite living abroad).
“The helicopter Ashley flies in, to and from that Shirebrook plant, is paid for by the sweat of men and women who struggle to afford a bus fare home.”
