Alan Shearer States The Obvious
United Legend Alan Shearer has stated the obvious on Newcastle’s current situation.
The all time Premier League record scorer has made clear that Newcastle’s hopes rest almost solely on the shoulders of Papiss Cisse.
Alan Shearer speaking to the Chronicle;
“It is good to see him back amongst the goals, he had a poor season last year but we know he can score them.
“The one thing is keeping him fit, while the other is keep on giving him chances.
“They are two things we must try to do because at the minute he looks like the only one who can score us goals.”
Cisse of course scored twice at Swansea on the back of one and a half chances in the whole match, for the first goal he made a very average cross from Obertan into a wonder goal, considering where he turned the ball in from.
All of this responsibility on a player who was surplus to requirements for Alan Pardew and would almost certainly have been sold in the summer if he hadn’t been injured.
Not forgetting of course that this main/only hope for goals was played regularly on the wing by the manager, with Pardew even at times preferring to play Shola Ameobi ahead of Papiss Cisse.
