Alan Shearer ‘You cannot sell your best players and expect to improve’
Alan Shearer has put Saturday’s win over Leicester into perspective by reminding everybody that United are still in a dangerous position.
The former number nine says that how Newcastle got the three points was ‘irrelevant’, with the only important thing being that a win was desperately needed as Spurs, Man City and Liverpool are up next.
However, whatever happens in the coming weeks, Shearer has said that the bottom line is that Newcastle United are only heading one way if they carry on selling their best players, especially if they aren’t replaced by similar quality.
Speaking on Match Of The Day 2, Alan Shearer said;
“You can’t continue to sell your best players and expect to improve.
“That is what Newcastle have done over the last few years and eventually it will catch up with them.”
Still in danger;
“Newcastle are still in a dangerous position. The performance was irrelevant as it was all about getting three points.
“It was trying to build up confidence to take into next three games.”
Mike Ashley visit;
“What difference does it make if the owner goes in the dressing room?
“If it made that much difference why then doesn’t he go in after every game?”
