Steve Bruce ‘What’s Hatem Ben Arfa Doing In York?’
I absolutely despise Steve Bruce but I have to now accept that even the mackem fraud is on a different level to the muppet we are stuck with.
Brucie has a very high opinion of himself but at least as a manager he has an idea of how he wants his teams to play.
More importantly though, along with every other (vaguely) credible Premier League manager, there is no way that Steve Bruce would allow himself to be made such a stooge by Mike Ashley, as Alan Pardew most certainly is.
As Pardew fed us the normal rubbish on deadline day, Hull City brought in four new signings, including a club record purchase of Uruguayan international striker Abel Hernandez for £10m, plus of course a certain French outcast from Tyneside.
Steve Bruce obviously very happy with what has happened in the last 24 hours and picking out Hatem Ben Arfa for a special mention…
“On paper there are some really, really good signings we’ve made today.
“I think what summed the day up, was when I rang Ben Arfa to see where he was and he was stuck in York.
“You are thinking ‘What’s he doing in York?’
“That was a bit fraught, but overall we’re delighted with what we’ve done.
“We have managed to bring what seems like four players on the day, but two or three of them have had a week’s work gone into them.
“We got what we wanted.”
